Accountability & Transparency

In recent years, many non-profit organizations have faced unprecedented change and increased public scrutiny.  Corporate governance and compliance issues are highly visible.  The result is heightened awareness surrounding a strong system of internal controls and assurance provided to constituents that funds are managed and used efficiently, effectively and appropriately. 

Governance is a collective effort.  It is made up of all of the processes the board and executive management take to advance a shared purpose consistent with the organization's mission.  Accountability is being answerable for an obligation or willing to accept responsibility for an action. Transparency is making it easy for those inside and outside of the organization to see how resources contributed to your non-profit are used.
